In 1867, Ohio legislature passed the Metropolitan Police Law which required a full time paid police force for the City of Toledo. At 8 AM on April 27, 1867, the "MP's" as they were respectfully called by the public, took charge of policing the City of Toledo.
Detective Lewis B Tracy Scrapbooks and the Story of Fire Captain James Fraser
The Toledo Police Museum would like to acknowledge Mr. Doug Tracy, great-grandson of Detective Captain Lewis B. Tracy, and express its gratitude for his generosity in sharing these books. Doug is a gifted researcher who not only has exhaustively researched his great-grandfather, but in the process, stumbled onto a great-uncle he did not know of.
Toledo Fire Captain James Fraser was killed in the King-Quale Elevator fire of 1894. His remains were never recovered. A plaque commemorating Captain Fraser's brave sacrifice will soon be unveiled in Promenade Park where his body lays silent deep in the earth. Doug has conducted his research and created these amazing books (and music and the commemorative plaque) at his own cost on his own time. He is a true blessing to this museum and to the citizens of Toledo.
